Farm Fresh Challenge

TCISD Nutrition Services has pledged to promote local foods and Texas agriculture by accepting the 2022 Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) October Farm Fresh Challenge. Throughout the month, students will have the opportunity to enjoy locally sourced food such as fresh fruits, vegetables, milk and grains. It is all part of helping young Texans adopt healthy habits while sustaining local agricultural communities and using these resources to reinforce healthy food preparation and promote Texas products. To identify our local products, check out our October menus and look for the items preceded by the word “Texas”. We strive every day to provide healthy meals to our students and we are glad you stopped by!  We are passionate about serving the TCISD students and we prepare meals to help them learn and thrive in the classroom environment.  You can be confident when your child dines with us knowing our meals meet the high nutrition standards of the Healthy Hungry Free Kids Act.

Texas City Independent School District is committed to promoting a healthy school environment for every student.  Research shows that healthy children do better in school, from attendance to behavior and also in academic performance.

All students at TCISD are served a breakfast and a lunch at no cost. We participate in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). For any a la carte purchases parents are encouraged to deposit funds into the students. Student account activity can be accessed by visiting: www.lunchmoneynow.com or by clicking on the Meal Payment button above.

The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) works with the district to help the students and the community to support good health and academic development. Our policy was developed in collaboration with students, parents and community members.  The policy helps promote the general well-being of students and staff by setting important health standards.
